Dear Martin,

Diet.com is doing an online weight loss challenge and thought you may have readers or clients who would be interested in participating.

What it entails is sending in weekly videos that will be posted on Diet.com. You can see an example of videos that we have done on our site right now or by checking out “Weight Loss Challenge” on YouTube. We really want to follow challengers through their weight loss journeys - so getting shots of work outs, eating healthy food, shopping for healthy food, meeting with a trainer, etc. are all encouraged.

At the end of 10 weeks, we will be holding a contest for the best videos, which will be judged on presentation. The winner of this contest will win $2,500.

Weight loss challenge participants will receive a free 3-month Premium Membership to Diet.com which will include a diet plan and exercise program. The site also has great community support on message boards, blogs, etc.

Please spread the word to anyone you think would be interested!

Thanks.

September 4, 2007 - In response to your comments. . .

During the latter part of July, I posted an exercise for the back and biceps called rim pull-ups.

In this video, I use the rim of a 10 ft (~ 3.05 m) basketball net for doing pull-ups. During the video, I did not include footage of me jumping up to the rim; so some of you were wondering if I really jumped to the rim with my own ability or if I used a stool or a ladder. Why didn’t I include footage of me jumping to the rim? The day I was shooting the video, my legs were very soar from a leg workout and I had just shot another video in which I ran uphill for about a minute (the video will be posted in Oct). No, I am not making excuses but explaining why I chose to shoot the video the way I did :)

I don’t like to let doubt linger, so I am making a short post with one of my attempts to grab the rim that day in order to set the record straight. In the video, I clearly get up to the rim but my hand slipped off. I say that a mental block was preventing me from jumping high enough because I was thinking about all the reasons why it would be a challenge to grab the rim firmly: soar legs from a workout, tightening muscles from an uphill run, etc. After I stopped thinking about how my legs felt, I eliminated my excuses and I did get high enough on the rim so that I grabbed it firmly.
